Make a Wish,
Did You Capture It?

Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.

A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective.

Testimonials

"James is very innovative with his choice of style. His photographs are creative and the images crisp and sharp. James also has the patience of a saint, he needed it when photographing our three young children. I would highly recommend James for all your photography needs. We have used James on three separate occasions and have never been disappointed."

"James has been our family photographer for over a decade. He has a knack with children (and adults!), putting us immediately at ease and creating a composition that captures the essence. As a result the photos he takes are second to none."

"James Bignell is a wonderful photographer. His wealth of experience and friendly nature means that both adults and children alike feel at ease in front of the camera. This makes great photos and enables him to capture the very essence of someones personality. Just have a look at his website, the pictures speak for themselves."

Questions About Your Photoshoot

You are bound to have questions about a photoshoot during these strange times, but let me reassure you it can still be done safely.

On location and some home & studio shoots are perfectly safe during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Since you will be in your bubble and I will be over 3 meters away there is very little risk of contamination and all of my equipment is sanitised between shoots.

Where do you do your Photo shoots ?
We can do them at your home and a favourite nearby location, I can advise on what works best. Or we can meet on location at a favourite place.
What if the weather is bad or I am unwell ?
What about the weather ?
If it looks like heavy rain for the day we should reschedule. We can work around most situations.

What if my child is unwell ?
Then we will need to re book you. I’ll need to know before I leave my base or a travel fee will be
incurred.

How Long Does It Take & What Should I Wear ?
How long is a Portrait session ?
Somewhere between 1 and a half and 3 hours depending on what we do, where we go.

What should we wear ?
Choose your own personal style and remember these images will be lasting a lifetime so feel free to wear your favourite jacket top or dress. Avoid if you can large prints and huge logos

When Do We See The Pictures & Are They Retouched ?
When do we see the pictures ?
Usually within a week, I can come to you and show you on my computer or put them
online in a secure password gallery.

Can you retouch ?
I retouch anything that goes to print, I have been using photoshop since the earliest versions back in 1995.

My policy is subtle retouching but also to follow your guidance if there’s a particular thing you would like me to do.

Will I be able to enjoy the shoot if I don’t like my photograph being taken ?
That’s my job, to make the experience fun and not feel like a trial. I have worked with thousands of families and we always seem to be able to keep it light-hearted and fun.

There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.
