The photo-shoot
People think of hiring a professional photographer for a number of reasons, they may have had a new baby, want to capture the unbridled joy of their 3 year old, have children who are leaving home and going to university, or to capture the entire family as a gift for a 70th birthday.
Whilst most people can point a camera in the right direction and snap a photograph, I use 25 years of professional experience and skill plus an artists eye to capture stunning images you can proudly hang on your walls or keep as a family heirloom in a handmade album for future generations to enjoy.
To get stunning images I use my years of experience and understanding of light, colour, backgrounds, composition and most importantly people. My aim is to make everyone feel relaxed and enjoy our time together. In this way a photo-shoot can progress quickly without feeling rushed, everyone can enjoy the process and achieve great results.
Babies
In order to photograph babies I use natural light, it is soft and does not affect their sensitive eyes. Natural light and lovely soft shadows compliment the beautiful skin of your baby. It is important that the shoot is timed properly so that the baby has had a sleep and a feed so that they are not hungry or tired and everyone can relax together.
I love to show the bond between Mother and baby, Dad and baby, siblings and baby – so there are lots of close up shots of them together. Then to reveal the baby’s character I capture shots of them smiling, also hands, feet and little curls. If we need to take a little break for a drink that is fine, it is all worth it. Anything to get the best images possible.
Toddlers
Children between the ages of 2 and 4 are so cute! My youngest is 5 so I can see him turning into a little boy.
I will always spend a little time before getting the camera out just chatting to Mum and Dad, talking the kids or playing trains or dollies. Again it is to make sure everyone is relaxed and happy. I am well versed on subjects such as Peppa Pig, Cars, and all the Disney films!
The photo-shoot starts in the home and then into the garden, finding interesting backgrounds and good light. Then with Mum and Dad’s help I can take pictures while the little one plays. I know where the light is good, the backgrounds are cool then keeping the subject happy. The shoot will capture lots of shots of your Child and if you wish Mum and Dad playing with them, messing around and generally being silly.
6-12 year olds
Again, lots of fun can be had if we set it up right. It’s nice to know your Children’s interests and the things they like to do. I will seek out the best angles , the best light. Throw in a mixture of classic imagery and more contemporary lifestyle photography.
Teenagers
Your children may be only a few years from university and leaving home. They may be boarding so you don’t see them as often. This would be a great time to capture them with the family before they head off into the world. I always keeps it cool with teenagers as in lifestyle magazines. I seek out natural smiles. Choosing the right location can give a mixture of urban cool and soft nature inspired imagery. If you live in a town we can literally walk out the door and get interesting backgrounds if you know where to look. I won’t make them feel embarrassed I will make them feel good about themselves. Whatever images you buy I will also supply low resolution copies for your teenagers Facebook page.
Extended family
Grandma and Grandpa (or whatever they are known as in your family!), cousins, uncles and aunts, brothers and sisters, are important and may have a special bond with your children. When you book your shoot think about what is important to you and what you would like to capture. I am open to suggestions and aim to capture meaningful images for your family.
Special Occasions
I can capture the special moments in your life in a way that you can enjoy for many years whether anniversaries, birthdays, parties or other celebrations. I can also take a quick special photo of you for your facebook page or as a present for your husband/wife, just let me know.
Viewing the images
I will show you the best 150 images from the shoot on my computer and you can choose from a range of quality products. It will take around 2-3 hours to edit the images into your final selection, I will be on hand to help you every step of the way.
If you would like other people to view the images then they can be posted online after the ordering process.
